Here's my diary of Grizzly Cub training Twitter postings: 

it's pretty straightforward: I copy the postings I make under my Twitter_id @dothillrunner and if I keep doing it, then I've got a training diary all the way up to the Grizzly (Cub) run. 

39. Coughed festively round the Wrekin. Lurgy has taken its toll and I'm not as well as I thought I was when I set out :-)

38. An epic 10 miles round the Wrekin ends my best pure running mileage week for possibly 2 years. Feeling ok :-)

37. No posts for days! But in the meanwhile, lots of training & it's going well. Also managed to fit in run round Hyde Park.

37: Wrekin this morning. Cut the run short as we were both tired. Been a productive week though.

36: weekend arrives. 6 miles done this afternoon, in a cold Wintery wind.

35: hit the gym two days in a row. Working hard, improving and watching Big Bang Theory at same time :-)

34: yep it was better than yesterday. Quite a nice 10k run round the lanes. Cool - but still shorts weather.

33. I was right. I ached a lot on today's 4.5 mile amble in the sunshine. Hoping I'll feel a little better tomorrow :-)

no.32. 8 mile slog, mud, sweat, hills of Ercall & Wrekin. Aching nicely now. Will be worse later on ;-)

31. Back out there. 7 miles round the lanes at Wrockwardine. Not so cold once you get going .

30.. Well, hopefully that's the back of my worst cold for many a day. Back in the gym, running, biking & light weights :)

Cough, splutter. Well, maybe not too much coughing it hurts my sore throat ! 29.

28. It's not going well. Knee injury has put me out for a few days. But hopefully back to it now :-)

27. 8 miles round town tonight, dodging from the bonfire night explosions

26 out & round the Wrekin today, before the rain set in - and without making my knee any worse. Result :)

25. a quarter century. Back trouble eased but turned ankle and hurt knee on Wrekin. It's not easy :)

24 all gone pants. Back injury has knocked training a bit.

23 x2 training pbs this week - heading in right direction. Still struggling with stomach trouble though

22 tough 5 Monday then a bad encounter with a Pot Noodle left me sidelined :) . But... back on Wrekin this morning

21 in the gym. Ooh I ache after yesterday's circuits :)

20. Happy 20th. 5km run and later on, circuits. I'm well tired tonight, but happy. But tomorrow...

19. 5.2 slow miles. Back is sore and I still feel about 75% well today.



18. 2 x 5km runs. Slow and painful. But I'm back!

17. A corner turned? 1hr 50m in the bike. Hopefully I'm on the long road back to fitness now. :))

16. Nothing - stomach quite bad today, But in my head, it was speedwork .

15 I fell off the ball today.

14. I have found the Swiss ball in the garage.

13 no training again. But I did enter the Four Villages Half Marathon today.

13. No training, still ill. But lots of reading up and planning my next move.

12. Becalmed. Ill. Determined to rise again.

day 10-11. Nothing. I'll again :(

day 9 - swim this am , then a bit of speedwork this pm. Better than I thought it would be. Warm out there - vest weather !

Day 7 & 8; 40 hilly miles on the bike yesterday - hard (for me) run round Wrekin today. Nice tired feeling :)

Day 5 (I think) 5 mile run. Can't feel legs. Not much of an advert for fitness in the over-50s :))


day 4; back to running. Met proper runner while out. Nearly killed me trying to keep up.


day 4: a cold has now joined forces with the stomach ache. Things need to get sorted out :)

Day 3. A day of sloth and stomach ache. Hopefully back to it today.


day 1. 75 mins run. Day 2. Early swim, then bad stomach preventing further training. Rubbish start ...
